One of the simplest remedies for sore throat is to continuously keep sipping on hot liquids throughout the day. The liquids should not be allowed to flow down the food pipe fast, but they should be taken slowly. As the liquids pass through the pipe, they have a fomenting action on it which helps in relieving the symptoms of the sore throat. Fluids like coffee, tea, piping hot soups and even warm water can be sipped on.

Take one tablespoonful of horseradish either in its pure form or in the form of its root. Mix it with one teaspoonful of honey and one teaspoonful of cloves that have been slightly ground. Put all these ingredients in a glass of water that has been slightly warmed. Drink this water when it is still warm.

Alternatively, you can take a glassful of warm water that has been enhanced with a tablespoonful of lemon juice and a tablespoonful of honey. This water is meant to be taken in slowly.

Gargling with salt water is traditionally known to have benefits for sore throat. The salt water is prepared by preparing a salt water solution. Take about two teaspoonfuls of salt and put them in a glassful of water. Heat this water so that the salt dissolves in it completely and then cool it down to a temperature where you would be comfortable gargling it. Gargle with the salt water while it is still warm. Gargle for at least 30 seconds with each batch and gargle for a total of at least five minutes (10 batches). This remedy is the safest home remedy there is for sore throat and can be done as many times as needed. It is recommended to have a salt water gargle two to three times every hour when the inflammation is at its most extreme and then reduce the frequency as it becomes better.

Gargling with apple cider vinegar also helps. In this, the salt water solution is prepared in the same manner, but the only addition is that of the vinegar. The vinegar is added to the water at the start, i.e. before the salt is added. This solution is very effective and can be done as many times a day as required.

Apple cider vinegar can be used in another manner. Take a tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar and put it in a cupful of warm water. Also, add a tablespoonful of honey in it. While the water is still warm, sip on it slowly. This has excellent benefits on sore throat problems.

Drinking warm lime juice also helps. Squeeze the juice of a whole lemon into a glassful of warm water, warm enough for consumption. You might want to add sugar for taste. Sip on this water slowly so that it foments the throat as it goes down.

One more remedy for the treatment of sore throat is cinnamon and pepper taken in water . A teaspoonful of cinnamon is taken in a glass of water. A pinch of pepper is added to it. Since this solution will become too spicy, a little honey may be added. The solution is brought to a boil. This is then sipped as a relief for sore throat. It can be had two to three times a day.
